Flowcharts for a main menu and a pause menu

On the left is a flowchart for my main menu and below is a flowchart for how my pause menu will function. With each different section going to a different place and then returning back to the main menu or pause menu when back is pressed.

Mock ups - Pause menus

On the left is my first mock up pause menu as you can see it has a blend of both red and green to represent how there is danger close to safety this is represented with the red representing danger  surrounding the small bit of green at the top which is representing the safety. It is a small menu that contains everything that the player would need and has a tip on the side. It is also written in a font that people would associate with medieval times. I feel like this is suitable as it has everything that the player would need and it takes things like colour theory into consideration and can give players a feel of danger is close by when they pause the game.

On the left is my second mock up pause menu and it is on the side of the screen with the game blurred out next to it this is to remind the player that they are still playing. I took inspiration from the Witcher 3 for this pause menu as I liked how it was on the side so you could still see what was happening within the game. The blue and red boxes at the bottom are also advertising the DLC so the player knows that the adventure is far from over. The colours and font of the text remain the same from the first mock up as it is what I felt works best at giving the idea of danger so close to safety.

Mock ups - Main menus

Main menu mock up 1

On the left you will see my first mock up for a main menu and you will realise how similar it looks to my second mock up pause menu that's because I decided to make 2 similar designs. So the colours can show people as soon as they load up the game that danger is close but its not at their doorstep yet. I also got 2 details from the Witcher 3 one being that it shows the character on the side but in this mock-up it is blurred. The other being how the man menu shows everything the player will need including advertisements for the DLC as seen in the coloured boxes at the bottom. I feel like this is a suitable design as the player can see everything and is also teased by the image on the side to load into the game to see what is going on.

Main menu mock up 2

On the left is my final main menu mock up and it has kept the same colour scheme throughout as I feel as if it most suitably makes the player feel the feelings I want them to feel for so red is commonly known as being for danger. I took a lot of inspiration from the Skyrim main menu for this with the logo on the left of the options for the player to choose. I however feel like this is definitely the weaker of both of my designs so far as its not got much else other then the main options as well as the logo and I am going to use the first one as my prototype. However I still think that this is a suitable main menu as it has everything that a main menu would have as well as the main logo of the game (at the moment something I used for a previous project is standing where a main logo would go).
