Page 2: Final proposal and planning

Final proposal

My final Product that I am going to make is going to be a game about dinosaurs and its going to where you have to collect things like fossils whilst also avoiding carnivourous dinsaurs with each peice of fossil you collect you get some informatin about the dinosaur it came from. This will be done in unreal engine 4 and using a mixture of assets that I have made myself and some that I have gotten else where. However a contingency that I have would be to remove the dinosaur AI and just have an interactive environment where you learn facts about the dinosaurs whilst collecting items.

Dinosaur moodboard

Below you will see moodboards for exisiting dinosaurs and games where this idea has been used similarly.

The moodboard above will be used whilst choosing the style of my dinosaurs as I will determine it from things like colour and overall aesthetic of the dinosaurs for example the t-rexs look scary because they are usually a threat towards the main character.

Similar systems in existing games moodboard

Below is a few examples of games that have similar systems to the way I want to have my system these allow you to inspect a well as learn some information about the items. However if I cant do this I wll just have it so you pick up the collectable it then tells you the fact and the later add a log where you can read all of the facts.

Asset List

Below you will see an asset list containing all of the assets that I will need throughout and what they will be used for during the production of my artefact. Below the artefact list is any URLs and licences for any secondary assets.

Floor plan

On the left you will see a floor plan of the environment that I am going to create along with the different things like where eachof the different collectables spawn in as well as where the T-rex spawns. The environment has been split up into 3 different sections these being Forest, a rocky landscape and a grasslands area each with information about the types of dinosaurs that live there.

Moods boards for the different environments

Below you will see moodboards for the 3 enivronements used above so a foresty area, Grasslands and a rocky landscape.

The reasoning behind me using each example in each of the mood boards is to get a general look at what each one looks like and what colour pallet they us. For example in the grass lands one it is very green heavy as the grass is long and flowing. Then in the rocky landscape it has darker colours as there is alot of rock and in the forest landscapes the trees are tall with light coming through the cracks of the trees these also have darker green and darker colurs invovled as there is little to no sun coming through the cracks of the trees. I would use this during the production of my game to accurately create a landscape that fits its description.

Dinosaur facts being used for the collectables

1. Scientists believe the tyrannosaurus rex could run at speeds of us to 20km/h. Whilst they were by no means the fastest dinosaurs(some could sprint at 60km/h) they'd still be able to catch most humans.
This fact was found on:
https://www.natgeokids.com/uk/discover/animals/prehistoric-animals/t-rex-facts/

2. Some triceratops may have had as many as 800 teeth.
This fact was found on:
https://www.livescience.com/24011-triceratops-facts.html
3. The stegosaurus was part of a group of dinosaurs known as thyreophorans. These were a group of armoured dnosaurs that lived from the early jurrasic period to the end of the cretaceous.
This fact was found on:

4. The name velociraptor cobines the latin word "Velox" which means swift and the klatin word "Raptor" which means robber.
This fact was found on:
https://www.newdinosaurs.com/velociraptor/

5.Compsognathus was about the size of a chickenand is one of the smallest known dinosaurs.Compsognathus had short arms with two clawed fingers on each han. A long tail that acted as a counterbalance and for stability during fast turns.
This fact was found on:
https://www.enchantedlearning.com/subjects/dinosaurs/facts/Compy/

6. The Dilophosuarus'  name means "two-crested lizard" this is because of its prominent crest on its head formed by two bony ridges. They are also the earliest large carnivorous dinosaur.
This fact was found on:
https://www.scifacts.net/dinosaurs/dilophosaurus/

Above are the facts that the player will see when they pick up the collectables within the environment this is so the player gets the impression they have to collect them all in order for them to finish the game.
