Here is a collection of main menus from medieval games that I am going to use in order to design and make my main menu this will allow me to see what colours are in each in order to choose a colour scheme that reflects a medieval setting. Below you will see a collection of pause menus that will be used for the same purpose. Press the arrow in order to see more of the images.

These are pause menus from some of the same games these will be used when I am creating my mock ups for my mock-ups for my pause menu in order to find the correct colours and fonts that accurately show a medieval setting. Slide for more.

Analysis

Skyrim

Released: 11th November 2011

Published by: Bethesda Studios

In the slideshow to the left you will see the main menu and the pause menu of Skyrim. I chose these as a result of the dark colours with the misty affect over it to show the dark and mysterious tone of the game. I will use the dark colours to portray the dark tone of the medieval time. I feel like this suits Skyrim as it shows everything that the player will need as well as the colour scheme it shows the dark tones hiding just under the surface of the beautiful world that is Skyrim. Whereas the pause menu makes it so that you can still see the world around you and what is going on this also allows you t save or on a separate screen see all of the inventory.

The Witcher 3

Released:19th May 2015

Published by: CD projekt

In this slide show there is the pause and main menu screens from the Witcher 3. I used this as a result of the actual layout of each menu everything is there that is needed including advertisements for the DLC I would use this whilst creating mine to make it all simple and easy to access whilst also giving some room to advertise the DLC for the game. I feel like this way anyone can easily see DLC and everything they need right in front of them instead of having to go into different sections in order to get these things. The main menu in the Witcher 3 shows everything that is typically needed in a main menu as well as in the most recent version the DLC for the game this is helpful for people who want the full experience. Whereas the pause is just as simply laid out as the main menu.

Kingdom come deliverance

Released: 13th February 2018

Published by: DMM games

These are the main and pause menu screens for Kingdom Come deliverance and I chose these due to the font of the text and how it captures the medieval theme of the game just right as its a style of font that most people would associate with that era. I will use this whilst designing my menu as it adds that extra bit of a medieval feel to the menu and it feels like your actually playing a medieval game. The main menu for kingdom come deliverance has a good design as the colours and the font suit a medieval themed game also the fighting people in the background put across the struggle and the fighting shown by the main character throughout the game.

For honor

Released: 14th February 2017

Published by: Ubisoft

To the left is the main menu screen for the game For Honor I chose this example as another example of how colours can be used for example the birds eye view of the world with the different greens and other colours to show how back in that time it was nothing but grass and fields and the occasional village or town. I will use this to show how the land is healthy but use a mixture of the darker colours to show how the land might be healthy but conflict between humans still goes on for example, use a multi coloured background mixed with greens and whites and other colours to show the healthy landscape but use black for the menu icons as it shows the darkened nature of man. The for honor main menu shows the different regions also shows a beautiful landscape that is going to be ravaged by war.
